Titan Company has started production of stainless steel cases at its new Rs 75 crore facility at Coimbatore, in Tamil Nadu.
This facility, on 11.3 acre, will manufacture one million cases per annum which can be further increased to two million cases. The Coimbatore plant’s value chain capability will meet all domains of stainless steel case manufacturing, including tool design, tool manufacturing, press shop, machining, polishing and assembling, supported by service functions like facilities management, maintenance, costing and quality management.
The new stainless steel case manufacturing unit at Coimbatore consists of state-of-the-art technology with special processes, world-class machinery and a work force focusing on creating benchmark process standards.
Titan Company, formerly Titan Industries, is a joint venture between Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and the Tata Group. In 1987, it began operations under the name Titan Watches.
Titan has a manufacturing unit in Hosur and three assembly units in North India. It manufactures 7.5 million cases at its own facilities, outsourcing the remaining seven million plus cases to vendors or importers. Apart from watches, the company has a presence in jewellery and eyewear.
