The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded terms of reference (ToR) to Phase-II of Bangalore-Chennai Expressway project. The project is being developed by National Highways Authority of India.
The ToR has been accorded to development of eight-laning of Bangalore-Chennai Expressway Phase-II from 71.000 km near Village N G Hulkur, Taluka Bangarpet, Kolar district in Karnataka and ends at 156.000 km near village Ramapuram, Mandal Gudipala, Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. The length of Phase-II will be 85 km.
The entire e-way will pass through Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The entire project has been divided into Phase-I, Phase-II and Phase-III. The Phase-II stretch falls in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Around 810.592 ha of land has been acquired for construction of e-way. The project will entail an investment of Rs 4,354.61 crore.
The proposed road will have 12 major bridges, 30 minor bridges, 79 culverts, 16 vehicular underpass, 11 light vehicular underpass, eight vehicular overpasses, two flyover, two interchange with toll plaza, two elevated crossing. Apart from this, there is provision of two truck by-lanes, two rest areas.
