Total Oil India, on 26 January 2010, opened its second LPG unloading facility
at berth no-12 at the New Mangalore Port in Karnataka.
The company was importing LPG at berth no-9 at the New Mangalore port. With
the increase in the quantum of LPG being imported at the existing berth
necessitated the move to commission one more facility at berth no-12 at the
port. The company handles around 1.5 lakh tpa of LPG at its Mangalore facility.
The berth no-12, which has a capacity of 3.8 million tpa, has a draught of 12
mtrs and can handle vessels of bigger parcel size. Apart from LPG, the newly
opened berth can also handle other cargoes such as furnace oil, naptha and
edible oil.
