China's Transsion Holdings plans to shift phone manufacturing from Africa and China to India.
The company, which operates in Africa through three brands - Tecno, Itel and Infinix - will launch Itel smartphones in India by the end of June 2016, followed by Infinix by the end of 2016 and Tecno by end of the fiscal.
Investment plans for the factory will be finalised by June 2016, following which it will begin manufacturing locally.
The company will also explore setting up more manufacturing units near port areas from where phones will be exported to other countries, including markets of Africa.
