Greater Noida is set to enhance its electricity infrastructure to support the upcoming Ecotech 16 industrial sector.
Initial work involves the installation of 86 overhead poles over a two-km stretch, linking the area to a 33kV substation in Sunpura. This will meet initial power demands, while a new 220kV substation will be constructed to handle future growth. Avaada, a renewable energy firm, has requested 120 MW for its first phase, and other companies in the sector have raised similar power demands with UPPTCL.
According to a GNIDA official, the overhead cable work is nearing completion and should be completed by early November. The new 220kV substation, which will support both commercial and industrial units, is expected to be ready by the end of 2026 at a cost of Rs 225 crore, as confirmed by Dileep Kumar Gupta, Executive Engineer at UPPTCL.
