The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the construction of the 15-km-long Chitrakoot Link Expressway at a cost of Rs 940 crore.
The proposed four-lane carriageway will enhance connectivity between the Bundelkhand Expressway and Chitrakoot, benefiting both regional and inter-state travellers. The expressway will originate near Bharatkoop and extend up to Ahmadganj, located near the Uttar Pradesh–Madhya Pradesh border. Following the Cabinet’s approval, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will initiate the land acquisition process.
According to UPEIDA officials, the new link will serve as a vital connector, significantly boosting traffic on the Bundelkhand Expressway by improving access to the Satna–Chitrakoot–Prayagraj National Highway. This strategic alignment is expected to benefit travelers heading to the National Capital Region (NCR) from cities such as Jabalpur, Katni, Maihar, Rewa, and Satna, by seamlessly integrating with the state’s expressway network including the Bundelkhand, Lucknow-Agra, and Yamuna Expressways.
The project will be developed on EPC model, and the selected construction company will also be responsible for maintaining the expressway for five years post-completion, ensuring smooth operations and infrastructure durability.
