The Uttar Pradesh government has advanced plans to relocate families impacted by the proposed Banke Bihari corridor in Vrindavan, Mathura, with the Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) selecting four plots to construct 350 flats under a group housing scheme.
This initiative aims to accommodate around 275 affected families, primarily from the Rukmini Vihar area. Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh stated, "Landowners affected by Banke Bihari Ji corridor would be given the option to resettle in Rukmini Vihar or Sunrakh Bangar in Vrindavan. Both the places have been earmarked, and residential flats will be developed there by MVDA."
The corridor, which is planned to be constructed on 5.5 acres of land surrounding the iconic Thakur Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, will impact several families, including sevayats (temple caretakers), shopkeepers, and local residents, Approx. 275 property owners, including 200 shopkeepers, are expected to be impacted. Affected shopkeepers will likely be offered commercial space within the upcoming corridor, with compensation based on land and property value.
