Work on the building to house the US Consulate General in Hyderabad, Telangana is progressing well and the new multi-building complex will be ready by 2021.
The facility is coming up on a 12 acre land parcel in Nanakramguda village. The estimated cost of the project is USD 350.5 million to be completed by 2021.
Through the duration of the project an estimated cost of USD 33 million is being invested in the local economy while a workforce of 1,000 American, Indian and other workers would be involved in the construction.
The new facility will provide functional platform for US diplomacy in India and feature 54 consular interview windows from the existing 15 windows.
The building will be on the lines of energy saving and sustainability goals to reduce environmental impact, optimise building performance and enhance self-sufficiency of the campus.
The project, registered with the US Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, will also have a permanent art collection curated by the Office of Art in Embassies.
