On 03 January, 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at Sri Vijaya Puram.
On this occasion, in line with the government's vision, nine major projects were inaugurated, and two foundation stones were laid, with a total investment of Rs 373 crore. Notable projects include an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) worth Rs 229 crore, Phase-I of the district hospital at Rs 33 crore, a Forensic Science Laboratory, and six other schemes valued at Rs 50 crore.
Minister Shah said that through these development projects, a new chapter in the development of our islands is beginning today. Other dignitaries present included Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, Lieutenant Governor Admiral D K Joshi, and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.
