The Uttar Pradesh government has set a target to establish eight modern data centre parks with a total capacity of 900 MW under its Data Centre Policy, first introduced in January 2021.
The policy aims to promote private investment in data centre infrastructure and strengthen the state’s digital ecosystem. Initially, the plan targeted three parks with a combined capacity of 250 MW, which were successfully achieved within the first year. Encouraged by early success, the government revised the policy to expand both the number of parks and investment potential, now estimated at Rs 30,000 crore. So far, proposals worth around Rs 21,343 crore have been approved, covering six data centre parks and two smaller units under 40 MW each, with seven projects already operational.
Officials say the initiative will significantly enhance Uttar Pradesh’s digital capabilities. The strengthened Data Centre Policy provides a clear roadmap for attracting investment while boosting the state’s technology infrastructure, with its focus on practical and investor-friendly measures.
