The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has launched infrastructure projects worth about Rs 75 crore in the Pendurthi constituency in Andhra Pradesh, aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and civic amenities.
Officials, including VMRDA Chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal, Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, and Metropolitan Commissioner KS Vishwanathan, inaugurated an Rs eight-crore convention centre in Chimalapalli and laid foundations for key road projects. Major works include the Rs 15-crore expansion of a 3.12-km, 60-ft.-wide master plan road in Pinagadi, and a Rs 31-crore, 100-ft.-wide road linking Lankalapalem, Asakapalle, and Duvvada Railway Station roads. Another Rs 24.50-crore project will connect Duvvada Railway Station to Gollalapalem and Amruthapuram. In Sabbavaram, a 40-ft.-wide asphalt road from the Anakapalle National Highway to the Government Degree College is being built for Rs 58.50 lakh.
Pranav Gopal reaffirmed VMRDA’s commitment to developing Visakhapatnam in line with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision, prioritising road infrastructure and revising the master plan based on public needs. All works are targeted for completion within six months.
