The Vesuvius Group intends to invest Rs 500 crore in its various manufacturing plants across the country in the ensuing three to five years. This was announced alongside the inaugural function of the company’s factory capacity expansion at its Taratala unit in Kolkata.

The proposed expansion will be spread across different cities including Kolkata, Vizag, Pune, Pondicherry, and Mehsana and will be implemented by Vesuvius India and other subsidiaries, once the necessary approvals are in place. The added capacity will serve the requirement for black refractories and other products by steel manufacturing companies.

The UK-based group, which delivers refractory, systems and services for industrial applications, prominently in steel and foundry, has 27 manufacturing units worldwide. It orates its research and development wing at Vizag in India.
