Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo
CE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Swedish commercial vehicle major AB Volvo is
planning to set up a manufacturing facility in India.
The company is expected to manufacture
only selected products in the proposed Indian manufacturing facility which sells
products such as wheel loaders, excavators, articulated haulers, motor graders
and compact equipment.
Many state governments including
Karnataka are in the race for setting up this facility in their own states.
The company has also plans to set up a
training school in Bangalore for technicians and equipment operators which will
impart formal training to Volvo construction equipment operators. Phase I of the
school is scheduled for completion by March 2007.
