The work of widening of two subways at Andheri and Jogeshwari on the Western Express Highway, and building a new pedestrian subway in Goregaon are facing delay.
The projects are facing delay as these proposals have been stuck with the state finance department for the past six months.
The projects undertaken by Public Works Department, Maharashtra, involved widening of Andheri subway located near the Parsi Panchayat from 9.5 mtr to 30 mtr, and widening of the Jogeshwari subway from eight mtr to 20 mtr.
Also, a new pedestrian subway to be built near the Goregaon check naka, having a three mtr wide passageway, is estimated to cost Rs two crore.
The estimated cost of widening of the Andheri subway is Rs ten crore, and the Jogeshwari subway is Rs 7.5 crore.
The projects are facing hurdles due to 38 per cent higher quotes by contractors as a result of which, the proposals were sent back to the finance department for its approval.
Work on the projects is expected to commence by October 2014, once PWD gets the approval of the department.
