Wheels India has signed a technical assistance agreement with Japan’s Topy Industries to design, develop, and manufacture aluminium alloy wheels.
Under the agreement, Topy will provide technical expertise and engineering support to help enhance Wheels India's design and manufacturing capabilities in the cast aluminium wheel segment. "This agreement is expected to bring in considerable technical expertise in the aluminium wheel segment for Wheels India," said Managing Director Srivats Ram, adding that it would help the company gain new business and strengthen its competitive edge. Topy Industries, a century-old leader in aluminium wheel manufacturing, will help Wheels India expand its reach.
The company has also announced new orders from Hyundai and Volkswagen for its aluminium wheels business, set to begin supplies next year. Additionally, Wheels India is expanding its annual production capacity at its Thervoi Kandigai plant in Tamil Nadu from five lakh to seven lakh wheels, with plans to further boost it to 10 lakh wheels by FY27.
