Work on the main line of the sewerage network in Calangute has begun.
Simplex Infrastructures, the contractor appointed by PWD, Goa, for the project, has commenced work on the main line of the sewerage network in Calangute. Kolkata-based Simplex bagged the work order worth Rs 75 crore for laying the main line of the sewerage network of the project, from PWD. The scope of the order involves building the main line through the open-trench method which entails digging up of the entire road stretch. The work is expected to be completed within two years.
The project envisages laying of underground 36 km long sewerage network in Calangute. The two main arterial roads, the main village road leading to the beach and Candolim, and the Calangute-Baga road are going to be dug up to lay the sewerage pipeline which will be taken to the sewerage treatment plant at Baga.
