The tendering process for the long-awaited eight-lane expansion of the HyderabadVijayawada National Highway 65 (NH-65) has been finalised, with construction scheduled to begin in February 2026.
Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy highlighted that the highway is among the busiest and most accident-prone corridors in the region, identifying 17 black spots where flyovers are being constructed to improve safety. The project aims to utilise cutting-edge technology to create a high-speed, accident-free expressway adhering to top quality standards.
Upon completion, the upgraded corridor will reduce travel time between Hyderabad and Vijayawada to just two hours. The Minister also noted the support received from the Union government, following his recent meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite the project.
Additionally, the Bharat Future City-Amaravati greenfield highway, stretching roughly 230 km, is progressing rapidly as part of the state’s infrastructure development initiatives.
