The 92-km-long Mysuru-Kushalnagar Highway project in Karnataka, costing Rs 4,130 crore is expected to be completed by December-end of 2024. The work is likely to start in September, 2023, and the project timeline is set at 24 months.
The works would be carried out in different packages, wherein Package-IV and V will pertain to the work between P. Agrahara-Palahalli in Srirangapatna and Hunsur. Likewise, the work between Hunsur and Periyapatna will be carried out under Package-III. The last stretch between Periyapatna and Kushalnagar will be carried out under Package-II.
Nearly 1,200 acres of land had been identified for the highway construction. Of Rs 600 crore, Rs 300 crore had already been released for the highway work and the remaining Rs 300 crore will be disbursed by month-end.
By 30 July, 2023, the blueprint of the work is expected to be submitted to the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), Railways and the Cauvery Neeravari Nigama for necessary clearances for starting the work.
The project will ease traffic congestion in the city, and people from Bengaluru can use the Mysuru-Kushalanagar stretch to travel to Mangaluru via Madikeri.
