Construction has started on the Rajiv Nagar-Kurji drain road project in the state capital, aimed at easing traffic for more than two lakh residents.
The 4.26 km road will run from Ashiana-Digha Road to Atal Path, covering the existing drain to make way for a modern four-lane highway. Currently, a single-lane road beside the drain often faces severe congestion, causing inconvenience for daily commuters. The project, executed by Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Buidco), involves dewatering the drain, constructing a base, building walls on both sides, and placing a slab to support the four-lane road. A Buidco official said, “After the dewatering process, the base will be constructed, and then the raft will be made.”
The foundation stone was laid by CM Nitish Kumar in August, with an estimated cost of Rs 149.5 crore and a completion timeline of two years. The project promises smoother and uninterrupted traffic flow in the area.
