Work on Z-Morh tunnel in the Union Territory of Ladakh is underway and 65 percent of the work has been completed.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, chaired a meeting to review pace and progress made on Z-Morh and Zojila tunnels connecting Kashmir with the Ladakh region.
As much as 65 percent physical work has been completed while its escape tunnel is likely to be completed by March 2021.
Despite the snowfall the work on the Zojila tunnel is progressing smoothly.
The Divisional Commissioner emphasised on immediate lifting of scrap from the Z-Morh site and ensuring an adequate dumping site facility is provided to the concerned for dumping purposes. Moreover, emphasis was also given on providing uninterrupted power supply and carrying out snow clearance work on all approach roads and sites.
The status of various other projects including approach roads of Srinagar-Zojila and Kargil, Gulmarg-Baramulla Highway, Vailoo-Donipawa Ashajipora Alstop, besides various other proposed road projects in Kashmir were also reviewed.
The deadline for the tunnel is 21 December 2023, however, a bonus of up to Rs 400 crore will be provided to the concerned agency if the project is completed before the deadline.
