The Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation is implementing Varkhede-Londhe barrage medium irrigation scheme. The project with a capacity of 35.58 million cu mtr will be located on Girna River at Chalisgaon taluka in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra under Baliraja Jalsanjeevani Yojana.
The project worth Rs 186.91 crore will spread over 7,542 ha of land. SEW Infrastructure is the contractor appointed for the project. In November 2014, the project received environment clearance (EC).
In July 2018, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved special package for completion of balance work of Varkhede-Londhe barrage medium irrigation project funded under PMKSY-AIBP. However, in November 2018, work on the project was temporarily stopped as per the state government order.
As per the latest development tracked by Projects Today, work on the project has been recommenced with completion rescheduled for June 2021.
