The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation which opened tenders for
the construction of the Worli-Haji Ali Sea Link in 2009, has yet to award the
project, causing delay in the implementation of the project. The Worli-Haji Ali
Sea Link is proposed as an extension of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
Two consortiums - one comprising Reliance Infrastructure and Hyundai and the
other of Hindustan Construction Company with HCC-John Laing and Samsung - were
in fray to construct the sea link. The extension is expected to be a 4.7 km
regular sea link without any cable-stayed bridge.
