Yantra India (YIL), a defence PSU headquartered in Nagpur, plans to more than double its railway axle production capacity from 30,000 to 70,000 units annually within the next two to three years.
The company manufactures axles at its Metals and Steel Factory (MSF) in Ishapore, West Bengal, where it also produces tank barrels. This capacity expansion aligns with the government’s push in the railway sector, especially with new trains like Vande Bharat generating demand. The advanced machinery being installed will support both railway axle production and manufacturing of barrels for new-generation tanks and artillery guns.
Yantra India, which marked its fourth year as a PSU, now targets a turnover of Rs 4,000 crore, leveraging orders won through global tenders.
