Germany-based ZF Group, a leading automotive supplier and technology company, has inaugurated its 19th manufacturing plant in India and 11th facility in Tamil Nadu. Located in Coimbatore, the new plant is focused on supporting the construction and railway sectors, both domestically and in export markets.
The company has invested euro 20 million (Rs 192 crore) in the facility, reinforcing its commitment to localising technologies, products, and solutions for India’s growing mobility sector. The Coimbatore plant spread over 10,000 sq. mtrs. area, will cater to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India and abroad, supplying critical technologies. It will produce the ERGOPOWER M automatic powershift transmission, designed for diverse construction machinery and recognised for its performance and quality.
Additionally, ZF will localise production of its EcoMet transmission for the Indian railway sector at this site. ZF’s offerings also include digital solutions like connect@rail, further strengthening its rail technology portfolio. Peter Laier, Member of the ZF Group Board of Management, said “This facility aligns with our global strategy of growth closer to customers and reaffirms ZF’s dedication to fostering innovation and growth in this pivotal market.” The new plant positions ZF to serve India’s rapidly expanding industrial and transportation needs more effectively.
