Zuppa, owned by Chennai-based Sree Sai Aerotech Innovations (SSAI), is planning to raise Rs 100 crore towards the expansion plan over the next few months. The company designs and manufactures its drones in India and also has a global patent for drone technology.
Zuppa plans to use the funding to ram up its existing products, which have been developed using its proprietary technology. The company also plans to penetrate existing markets and develop newer applications for its core drone technology. It also intends to expand the base for its Vehicle Tracking and Telematics Systems (VTS).
Zuppa has already raised Rs six crore from IndiaNivesh Special Situations and Growth Fund and MapMyIndia. In August 2018, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) came out with a new set of regulations on operations of Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
The company is in the process of manufacturing an aeroplane-like drone (around one mtr long) that can be used in mapping and monitoring agricultural land.
