The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a loan of Rs 975.26 crore to enhance industrial infrastructure across nine industrial zones in Tripura.
Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Chairman Nabadal Banik confirmed the funding will support construction of industrial sheds, power substations, underground electric lines, fire service stations, and 34 new roads. Key areas benefiting from the project include Bodhjungnagar, R K Nagar, Dukli, and AN Nagar.
Additionally, the state government has allocated 127 acres in Santirbazar, South Tripura, and 28 acres in Fatikroy, Unakoti district, for further industrial development. . To revive industrial activity, the TIDC has recovered 28 acres from 24 inactive industrial units, paving the way for new entrepreneurs.
Tripura is also promoting plywood and rubber-based industries. “Currently, two plywood-making units are operational in the state, and seven more are in the pipeline,” Chairman Banik noted, adding that the state is set to become a leader in rubber wood-based plywood manufacturing.
