Acer is set to make a fresh foray into the smartphone sector in India, through a strategic partnership with Bengaluru-based Indkal Technologies.

Under a trademark licensing agreement with Acer Incorporated, Indkal will manage the design, manufacturing, and distribution of Acer-branded smartphones in India. The collaboration is seen as a strategic move to leverage Indkal’s local manufacturing infrastructure and supply chain, aligning with Acer’s efforts to re-establish its presence in the competitive Indian mobile space.

This marks Acer’s renewed focus on smartphones after a long hiatus and further, the upcoming Acer smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 5G chipset, potentially making it the first in its price range to feature this processor. The device is also expected to include a 5000 mAh battery, reportedly supporting up to 24 hours of usage, indicating a focus on both high performance and energy efficiency.
