The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition (CoEET) in Visakhapatnam, to be located in the Super ECBC building.

The initiative, with a proposed outlay of around Rs 100 cr, will be jointly funded by APGENCO, APTRANSCO, and other state utilities. CoEET will act as a hub for clean energy innovation, skill development, research, and policy support, and will be registered as a society involving collaboration with academia, industries, startups, and think tanks. The centre will focus on renewable energy, energy storage, smart grids, EV charging, green hydrogen, and AI/ML applications in energy systems. It will offer certification courses, internships, fellowships, and incubation facilities to support over 10 startups and train 1,000+ professionals.

In the next five years, CoEET plans to complete over 20 research projects and actively contribute to clean energy policymaking at both state and national levels.
