Avaada Group has signed an agreement with the Bihar government to develop one GW of renewable energy capacity in the state, involving an investment of Rs 5,000 crore.

The initiative will include the installation of ground-mounted, floating, and community solar power plants, along with battery energy storage systems. According to the company, the project is expected to generate 500 direct employment in Bihar. The agreement was formalised between the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency and Avaada Energy CEO Kishor Nair. It was signed in the presence of Bihar's Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Industries Minister Nitish Mishra.

Production is anticipated to begin within two years following the execution of power purchase agreements (PPAs) and allocation of land or water bodies by the state government. Avaada’s project aligns with Bihar’s goal of strengthening its renewable energy infrastructure while addressing both energy access and sustainability.

The move is also expected to catalyse industrial growth and economic development in the state. The company reiterated its commitment to a cleaner energy future through innovative and scalable renewable solutions that also empower local communities.
