Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the Government Pentland multi-speciality hospital in Vellore on 25 June, 2025, offering a major boost to public healthcare infrastructure in the region. The Rs 197.81 crore, seven-storey facility houses 560 in-patient beds and significantly upgrades the previous 125-bed setup. It features over ten super-speciality departments, including cardiology, neurology, nephrology, and obstetrics & gynaecology, along with ten surgical theatres and dedicated wings for emergency care, cancer treatment, x-rays, and plastic surgery.

Accompanied by key Cabinet Ministers and local officials, CM Stalin toured the facility, including the maternity ward and outpatient areas, and interacted with staff. Health officials said the hospital is equipped to provide high-end medical care to thousands of residents. In addition to the hospital inauguration, the Chief Minister virtually launched seven new Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Sekkadu, Tiruvalam, Ozur, Ponnai, Odugathur, and Thorapadi, as well as two sub-health centres in Pernambut and Anaicut.

Each PHC, built at a cost of Rs 1.2 crore, will serve around 50,000 people. Mr. Stalin also greeted residents and posed for photos during his visit from Katpadi railway station to the hospital, receiving enthusiastic responses from the public.
