Dixon Technologies has received approval from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) to form a joint venture (JV) with Chinese electronics company Longcheer, as per a regulatory filing dated July 24.

The JV will be established with Longcheer’s Singapore-based subsidiary, and the new entity will be named Dixtel Infocomm once definitive agreements are finalized. "Dixon has received approval from MEITY to form a prospective joint venture (JV) in India with Longcheer, through an optimum structure to be mutually agreed between Dixon and Longcheer such that ..74 per cent of the total paid up share capital of the joint venture company is held by Dixon and 26 per cent is held by Longcheer," the filing stated.

Dixtel Infocomm will focus on manufacturing and supplying smartphones, tablets, true wireless stereo devices, smartwatches, AI PCs, automotive electronics, and healthcare devices. Longcheer, which also designs devices for global brands like Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Samsung, brings in strong ODM capabilities.

The collaboration is expected to accelerate localisation of non-semiconductor sub-component manufacturing in India. Dixon has also partnered separately with Chinese firms Chongqing Yuhai Precision Manufacturing and Kunshan Q Technology’s Indian arm for electronic component production.
