The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has announced plans to develop the Harnandipuram housing scheme, spanning 520 hectares across eight villages near the Delhi-Meerut Road.
This initiative marks GDA’s first major housing project in 20 years, after the Madhuban Bapudham scheme. Of the total, 462 hectares will be directly purchased from farmers to expedite land acquisition compared to traditional land acquisition methods. The villages involved include Mathurapur, Shamsher, Champatnagar, Bhandakhurd, Nangla Firoz Mohanpur, Bhowapur, Shahpur Nijmorta, and Morta.
GDA has tasked a committee of officials from both the authority and district administration to analyse market rates and determine fair purchase prices. This process involves reviewing recent sale deeds from the past six months and identifying farmer families and unencumbered land.
In addition to the 462 hectares to be purchased, GDA already possesses 11 hectares, with the remaining land expected to be acquired from gram sabhas. Vice-Chairperson of GDA, Atul Vats, emphasised the importance of direct purchase strategy to streamline the procurement process and drive planned development in the region.
