To address long-standing traffic congestion in South Delhi, the Delhi government has proposed the construction of four elevated roads aimed at improving connectivity in severely affected areas like Freedom Fighters Enclave and Sainik Farm.

These localities have faced poor road access for years due to persistent jams along the narrow and encroached Ignou Road, which lacks alternative routes for commuters. According to officials, the planned elevated stretches include a link between Chhatarpur's main road and SSN Marg, a 2 km elevated road from Chhatarpur’s 100-Foot Road to Ignou Gate, another elevated stretch along Ignou Road, and a longer corridor from Anuvrat Marg to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport via INA Market.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has been directed to conduct feasibility studies on all proposed routes. The existing road network cannot be widened due to shops and buildings on either side. Previous measures, such as installing concrete barriers, have failed to resolve the congestion. Ignou Road, connecting residential hubs like Neb Sarai, Paryavaran Complex, and Saidulajab with Saket Metro, remains chronically choked, especially at the MB Road intersection and Ambedkar Nagar depot.
