Himachal Pradesh government has concluded the tendering process to develop two islands in Gobind Sagar Lake into premium tourist destinations. Development rights were awarded to the highest bidders, with the goal of transforming these islands into experiences similar to those in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The islands will be equipped with boat access, eco-friendly camping, bonfire facilities, nature trails, hiking routes, and fishing zones. Plans also include infrastructure for hotels, restaurants, destination weddings, pre-wedding shoots, adventure sports, and picnic spots, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Water-based activities are already operational in the lake, including cruise-shaped motorboats, shikaras, and other water sports. With added recreational fishing and angling zones, the lake aims to attract a wide spectrum of tourists.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the project aligns with the government’s broader plan to promote eco-tourism. Around 450 forest rest houses across the state may be utilised for this purpose.
