Diversified conglomerate ITC opened its Global Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Kolkata on 05 February, 2025 during the Bengal Global Business Summit. It was inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a virtual event.
The newly established global AI centre is located in New Town, Kolkata, and will focus on advanced AI research, cementing West Bengal’s role as a hub for cutting-edge technology in India. Banerjee also virtually inaugurated ITC’s modern FMCG manufacturing facility in Uluberia, Howrah district.
ITC Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Puri revealed that ITC has invested more than Rs 7,500 crore in West Bengal over the last decade. These investments span diverse sectors, including agriculture, food processing, hospitality, paper, and information technology. The new AI centre and FMCG facility are expected to further boost the state’s industrial ecosystem and provide significant employment opportunities.
ITC has made substantial contributions in sectors such as hospitality, manufacturing, information technology, and agriculture. The Chairman reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding its operations in the state, especially in hospitality.
