Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power (NUPPL), a joint venture of NLC India and UPRVUNL, has successfully synchronised Unit-2 (660 MW) of its 1,980 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Project with the national 765 kV grid on 20 July, 2025.
Achieved in a single attempt and ahead of schedule, the milestone follows the recent steam blowing and represents significant progress toward the project's Commercial Operation Declaration (COD). With Unit-1 operational since December 2024, and Unit-3 expected in FY 2025-26, this synchronisation further accelerates the project’s full-scale implementation.
Located in Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, the project features three supercritical units and is designed to supply 75.12 percent power to Uttar Pradesh and 24.88 percent to Assam. It uses equipment from LMBPL, GEPSIPL, and BGRESL, and will be fueled by the linked Pachwara South Coal Block in Jharkhand.
Committed to environmental sustainability, NUPPL employs FGD and SCR technologies to meet emission norms and ensures zero liquid discharge. CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli credited the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders for the achievement.
