Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed terminal building and the extended runway at Thoothukudi airport on July 26, 2025.

State BJP president Nainar Nagenthiran announced that the renovated airport now features night landing facilities and will soon be capable of handling wide-bodied international flights. The development, he said, reflects the Centre’s commitment to a “developed Tamil Nadu” by allocating sufficient Central funds for key infrastructure projects.

it was also highlighted that teh state has been consistently receiving Central support for development initiatives.
