London-based tech firm Nothing has announced that CMF, its former sub-brand, will now operate as an independent subsidiary headquartered in India, handling R&D, manufacturing, and operations.
This move positions India as the global base for CMF’s end-to-end smartphone and smart hardware business, underscoring India’s growing role in next-gen consumer tech. Nothing has announced a strategic joint venture with leading Indian electronics manufacturer Optiemus Infracom, the partnership aims to make India a global hub for production and export of Nothing and CMF products.
The JV represents a major push towards strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem under the Make in India initiative. Together, Nothing and Optiemus will invest over USD 100 million (approx. Rs 840 Cr) and generate 1,800-plus work opportunities in India over three years. Nothing has already invested over USD 200 million in the country, signalling signaling strong confidence in India’s potential to build truly global consumer technology brands.
