Oil India has invited bids to develop a 160 tonne per day (TPD) municipal solid waste-based compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Agartala, Tripura. 

The work comprising engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance (EPCOM) is split into two streams - 80 TPD from mixed municipal solid waste and 80 TPD from source-segregated waste. The project will be developed for commercial use and aligns with the government’s push towards sustainable energy and waste-to-energy solutions, aiming to convert urban solid waste into renewable fuel.  

The upcoming CBG plant in Tripura is expected to contribute to cleaner energy goals, improve waste management infrastructure, and create employment opportunities in the region. 

The closing date for submission of bids is 26 September, 2025.
