Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple projects worth around Rs 2200 crore in Varanasi on August 2.
The initiatives span infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage, aiming to transform the city’s connectivity, heritage preservation, and quality of life. Key road projects include widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar roads, a railway overbridge at Hardattpur, and new overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard.
Power infrastructure will get a Rs 880 crore boost under the Smart Distribution Project with underground electrical works. Tourism and cultural works feature redevelopment of eight riverfront ghats, Kalika Dham, Durgakund, Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, and Munshi Premchand’s ancestral home.
Projects also include City Facility Centres, Miyawaki Forest, park beautification, and kund restoration. The PM will inaugurate 47 rural drinking water schemes, upgrade 53 schools, and launch health upgrades including robotic surgery at cancer hospitals. He will also open a synthetic hockey turf, PAC multipurpose hall, and Quick Response Team barracks.
