The Residency Hotels, a 34-year-old chain owned by Chennai-based Appasamy Group, has plans to expand its footprint with a new hotel-cum-convention centre in Madurai, a new hotel in Mysuru, and its second hotel in the Maldives.

The Group is shifting focus from budget to premium boutique hotels while enhancing existing properties. The Madurai project will feature 188 rooms and a 56,000 sq. ft. convention centre, one of the largest in the region, with an estimated investment of over Rs 150 crore for the convention centre and Rs 1.5 crore per room.

The Mysuru hotel will have 120 rooms and is expected to open by April 2027. The total investment across these projects exceeds Rs 500 crore, reflecting the company’s strategic growth and premium market positioning.
