The Gujarat government has announced two major expressway projects with a combined investment of Rs 96,240 crore.
Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma shared the details in the Assembly, highlighting the Namo Shakti Expressway of 430 km, with Rs 39,120 crore outlay, connecting Deesa to Pipavav and the 680 km Somnath-Dwarka Expressway to be built with Rs 57,120 crore investment. Rs 520 crore has been allocated from the Rs 50,000 crore Developed Gujarat Fund for the upcoming financial year.
The alignments will be finalised within six months, followed by a year-long detailed project report (DPR). Land acquisition requirements will be determined post DPR completion.
Gujarat’s road network extends over 1.11 lakh km, including national and state highways, district, and rural roads. The state allocated Rs 10,045 crore in the 2024-25 Budget for road infrastructure. Additionally, the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, is expected to boost trade.
Gujarat is also integrating smart road technologies, prioritising connectivity to industrial hubs, ports, and agricultural regions to enhance transportation efficiency.
