Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Jitin Prasada informed the Lok Sabha on 22 July, 2025 that the Zaheerabad Industrial Area (ZIA), located in Sangareddy district, Telangana, has been designated as a priority node.
The Centre and Telangana government have joined forces to develop a Smart Integrated Industrial City across 3,245 acres in Zaheerabad, as a priority project under the Hyderabad Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC). The project, named the Zaheerabad Industrial Area (ZIA), will be implemented through a special purpose vehicle, NICDIT Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City, with 49 percent equity held by the Centre's National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust and 51 percent by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC).
Located in Nyalkal and Jharasangam mandals of Sangareddy district, ZIA is designed to attract industrial investments with modern infrastructure, including roads, electrical works, ICT facilities, and common utilities. Of the total land, 91 percent is already in State possession, while acquisition is ongoing for the remaining 284.48 acres.
ZIA aims to enhance manufacturing, support Make in India and the Act East Policy, and promote integrated urban and industrial growth. It is well connected by road and rail and is 125 km from Hyderabad airport. Krishnapatnam Port (320 km) and the upcoming Manoharabad Multi-Modal Logistics Park (110 km) will support logistics. This marks Zaheerabad’s second nationally significant industrial project, reinforcing its strategic industrial importance.
