Notably, JSW Steel and Jindal Steel committed a combined Rs 90,000 crore toward mega steel projects in Maharashtra. Another notable investment was Rs 10,000 crore by Artificial Electronics for setting up a unit to manufacture Sapphire Ingots and Wafers, also in Maharashtra. Other significant investments were seen in the Cement (Rs 6,137.20 crore) and the Drugs & Pharma segment (Rs 5,806.16 crore). A sharp fall in fresh investment announcements by government agencies led to a steep decline in infrastructure investments in April 2025, which dropped to Rs 97,679.84 crore across 1,097 projects. This represents a significant fall from March 2025, when 938 infrastructure projects worth Rs 2,70,004.29 crore were announced. The last comparable drop was observed in September 2024, when the sector attracted just Rs 61,436.56 crore. As a result, infrastructure%u2019s share in total capital expenditure fell sharply to 19.8 percent in April, well below the monthly average of around 43 percent seen over the past six months. Key areas that continued to receive investment include Real Estate (Rs 33,159.55 crore across 230 projects), Community Services (Rs 21,122.36 crore, 372 projects), Roadways (Rs 14,466.99 crore, 254 projects), and Data Centres (Rs 13,273 crore, 7 projects).By contrast, the Mining and Irrigation sectors together contributed only about 2.2 percent of April%u2019s total investments. Mining attracted just Rs 8,356.86 crore across four projects, including a single Rs 8,000 crore project in the Metallic ores segment. Irrigation remained entirely driven by state governments, garnering Rs 2,547.77 crore from 42 schemes. BY STATESMaharashtra led all states, both in terms of the number of projects and investment value. The state saw 210 new projects worth Rs 1,51,420 crore, accounting for 30.7 percent of India%u2019s total fresh investments. Major announcements included JSW Steel%u2019s Rs 50,000 crore green steel plant, Jindal Stainless%u2019 Rs 40,000 crore stainless steel project, and Artificial Electronics%u2019 Rs 10,000 crore sapphire ingots & wafers unit. These three projects alone contributed 66 percent of Maharashtra%u2019s total investment tally.Rajasthan ranked second, attracting 113 projects worth Rs 99,034 crore. Interestingly, 51 Solar/Wind power projects with a combined investment of Rs 95,631 crore formed 96.6 percent of the state%u2019s total inflow. Key projects included NTPC%u2019s Rs 5,000 crore, 360 MW project, Adani Renewable Energy%u2019s 1,482 MW, Rs 7,410 crore projects and Avaada Energy%u2019s 700 MW Rs 3,500 crore project.Karnataka secured third place with 192 projects amounting to Rs 47,664 crore, or 9.7 percent of total investment.
