Reliance Industries (RIL), has proposed expansion projects for its 68.2 million tpa Jamnagar refinery-cum-petrochem complex in Jamnagar district of Gujarat.
For the purpose, the company has planned to set up a 450 MW coal-based power plant, 250 kilo tonne per annum Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber, and 500 kilo tonne per annum Poly Isoprene Rubber in its Jamnagar refinery-cum-petrochem complex.
RIL proposed to set up projects at complex as the site has sufficient land, raw materials and utilities to facilitate the development of the project, and hence the company has not examined alternate sites for the purpose. Further, it will utilise electricity from the existing captive power plant for construction, and natural gas will be used as fuel for start up of the boiler.
Moreover, it will also ensure that emission from the plant remains well within the permissible limit.
As part of this, the company has submitted its application for firming up the terms of reference (ToR), for obtaining environment clearance for the project.
