Cement major, ACC, is planning to invest Rs 3,000 crore in the next three years in its expansion plan.
The company plans to increase its capacity to 10 million tpa from the existing six million tpa in three eastern region states. For this, work is in progress to expand capacities at two existing plants - Jamul in Chhattisgarh, and Sindri in Jharkhand. The expansion projects will be financed through internal accruals.
As part of its expansion plan, the company is in discussions with West Bengal Government for setting up a 1.5 million tonne grinding unit at Kharagpur in Paschim Medinipur district, with an investment of Rs 600 crore. Work on the project is expected to begin by January 2014 with completion scheduled for 2016. The company is also engaged in talks with the state government to acquire about 150 acre for the proposed project.
Currently, ACC manufactures 30 million tonne of cement in 17 factories in India.
Meanwhile, the company has launched a new premium cement brand, ACC Plus+ in West Bengal. It has unveiled a new product line at its 0.6 million tpa facility in Madhukunda, located near the Asansol-Durgapur industrial belt, in the state.
