On 16 February 2014, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Inner Ring Road, Phase-I and II of Guntur district of the state.
Phase-I and II of the road project, which covers a length of 6.34 km with a four lane carriageway, was completed at an estimated cost of Rs 29.08 crore.
The road project has been undertaken by the Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTMUDA).
The scope of work for the project involves development of an 80 ft wide inner ring road to Guntur city, in various phases.
The inner ring road stretches from old NH-5 at Autonagar and passes through the villages of Agathavarappadu, Gorantla, Pedapalakaluru, Turakapalem, Nallapadu and joins NH-5 at Ankireddypalem village in Guntur district.
