On 7 December 2013, Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated the Pulichintala project by opening the gates of the dam in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister dedicated the project, costing Rs 1,831 crore, to the nation.
The Pulichintala project involved construction of a dam with 45.75 thousand million cu ft water storage capacity and also stabilisation of irrigation in the command area under the Krishna delta project.
The project, developed by the Andhra Pradesh government, will be beneficial to Krishna, West Godavari, Guntur and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
