According to reports, NHAI during July 2005
awarded contracts worth Rs.18,000 crore for various highway projects.
Here is a summary:
1. Hindustan Construction Co has won two
contracts for four-laning of a 85 km stretch between Ayodhya and Lucknow. The
contracts are valued at Rs.198 crore and Rs.212 crore.
2. Madhucon Projects was awarded a Rs.318 crore
contract for a four-laning of a 40 km stretch between Mehsi and Kotwa in Uttar
Pradesh.
3. Progressive Construction has won a contract
for four laning of a 40 km stretch between Muzaffarpur and Mehsi. The contract
is valued at Rs.311 crore.
4. Oriental Structures has won a Rs.132 crore
order for construction of a by-pass near Jhansi. The project is being funded by
Asian Development Bank. The company has also bagged a 41 km Jhansi-Shivpuri
project valued at Rs.150 crore.
5. ITD Cementation bagged a Rs.286 crore contract
while Bridge & Roof Co won a Rs.201 crore order. The two contracts
collectively involve four laning of a 84 km stretch between Pathankot and
Bhogpur.
