Reliance Energy has reportedly bid for six
roadway projects under the National Highways Development Programme. These
stretches -- five in UP and one in Tamil Nadu -- would involve investment of
around Rs.11,000 crore. Other bidders to these projects are Larsen & Toubro,
GMR Group, Nagarjuna Constructions, etc.
For Reliance Energy, this development is an
extension of its attempt to diversify into infrastructure development. The
company has already submitted its technical bids (in partnership with Connex of
France) for the Mumbai metro rail project.
It has also evinced interest in the Mumbai
Trans-Harbour Sea Link, in association with Hyundai Engineering of Korea.
